Destroyers are the workhorses of most fleets, being large enough to be versatile, but small enough to be built in large numbers. Some less well funded fleets even use destroyers as makeshift capital vessels. Destroyers can be found everywhere, doing basically any mission imaginable, and as such civilian encounters with military vessels will rarely be anything other than a destroyer.

Hex Fleet’s main destroyer is a well balanced and versatile vessel well suited to virtually any mission role, at least compared to the Patrol Frigate Class. The class lacks the large and vulnerable gun towers of the frigate classes, limiting the firing arcs of its defensive railguns. However, the destroyer actually has greater maneuverability than the frigates, thanks to a greater thrust to weight ratio and more of its mass dedicated to maneuvering systems.
