The Federation Class is from the Star Trek Technical Manual, written by Franz Joseph. Although there was a falling out between Joseph and Roddenberry, the diagrams from the book were shown on screen during the first six movies, which makes the ships canon in my opinion. That said, there’s no evidence for a refit version, and I’ve altered the designs a bit so I’m sticking them in this category.
A Saladin class with no torpedoes and fewer phasers. I wanted to make a version that looked more like the sensor platform it’s supposed to be, and in my indecisiveness I made two versions. Version 1 was based on the Nebula Class, with the big AWACS dish. I pulled the dish design from DS9’s Antares Class, a Miranda variant. It made sense to me as they’re the same era. Version 2 was inspired by the New Orleans class, with smaller sensor pods. New Orleans pods were based on highlighter markers, so to continue the tradition, and make a bit of a joke, I based my pods off the flash drive that I was using for my 3D printer. I like both versions, but I prefer the AWACS version, being an aviation enthusist.
